In
the last 20 years, the technology surrounding the hearing industry has
made tremendous progress, making your excuse for not hearing virtually
disappear! Hearing aids come in all shapes, sizes and styles and are custom
tailored to fit your specific loss.
Micro-Canal
(CIC)
This remarkable new hearing instrument is not only discreet and comfortable,
but also provides important hearing benefits because of its deep placement
in the ear canal. The micro-canal may be used with most types of hearing
loss. The microphone placement is deeper with this type of aid which offers
several advantages including more natural sound quality, minimal wind
noise, better directionality and improved telephone use. These are the
preferred style of hearing aids today.

 |
|
Canal
Canal hearing aids are one of the more commonly worn types of hearing
aids. Canal aids are designed to fit entirely in the ear canal and can
be used for most types of losses. Canal hearing aids do not go into the
ear as CIC.

|
In-the-ear
With the onset of brand new technology, some hearing aid users who were
forced to wear behind-the-ear aids are now able to wear in-the-ear aids.
In-the-ear aids are the most common kind of hearing aids on the market
and fit entirely in the ear. In-the-ear technology is fit for users with
mild to profound losses. They are generally the least expensive of all
the ear aids.
|
|
|
Behind-the-ear
Behind-the-ear hearing aids have the widest range of use. They fit behind
the ear and are attached to an ear mold which fits in the ear to direct
sound into the ear drum. Behind-the-ear aids are usually fit to users
who have severe to profound losses, as well as children with hearing loss,
since the mold can be replaced as the child grows in size.
|
|
|
Open-ear
"Open" fitting hearing aids allow many sounds pass through naturally,
without being amplified. In fact, a fully inserted open earbud maintains
as much as 70 percent of the canal's open volume and prevents the "plugged-up"
feeling that first-time hearing aid wearers often experience. Unlike miniature
BTEs, the tiny On-The-Ear (OTE) case, micro-thin tube and discreet earbud
give open-ear hearing aids an invisible appearance comparable to
today's smallest premium hearing aids. Hear better with confidence, knowing
others will never see you're wearing a hearing aid.

Digital
Digital hearing aids have the newest technology in hearing instruments.
Unlike analog (conventional) hearing aids, digital aids do not process a
continuous stream of sound. Instead, the sound is converted to a digital,
numerical code and then adjusted by complex algorithms. The sound is converted
back and delivered to the wearer. Digital hearing aids are available in
CIC, in-the-ear, in-the-canal and behind-the-ear styles. |

Destiny
by Starkey Laboratories
Advanced Digital Hearing Aid Technology
Standard
features of the Destiny 1200 are:
- Active Feedback
Intercept (AFI) - the most effective feedback erasure system ever developed.
AFI uses an entirely new patent-pending method that actually moves nuisance
signals in time, so not only does the feedback problem virtually disappear,
there are no irritating sound artifacts left behind.
- Acoustic
Signature - a sophisticated, technology-driven system that detects and
classifies listening environments and switches seamlessly between them,
providing a totally natural hearing experience and clearer, better sound
quality than ever before.
- Directional
Speech Detector (DSD) - standard on behind-the-ear styles and optional
on all others with the quietest directional mode in hearing aid
history. DSD continuously monitors the decibel levels in noisy environments
and adjusts its reception area.
- Automatic
Telephone Response - a first-of-its-kind nanotech switch that senses
an analog telephone signal the moment the receiver is lifted to the
ear.
- Digital
fidelity w/ greater multichannel flexibility to compensate for specific
hearing requirements
- Digital
processing for better sound
quality
- No
volume control, it automatically adjusts to your surroundings
- Available
in all sizes for most types of hearing loss
- Full
factory warranty
- Made
in the USA by an American-owned company!
